The past year has been tough. When I moved to a new country, I had to bid farewell to my everyday life and friends. It’s a place I’ve visited before but never lived in. While I love my new city, I’m constantly on the go and never seem to have enough time for myself.
As a yoga instructor, I’m laser-focused on helping my students find balance and relaxation. Yet, I realised I wasn’t practising what I preached.
I know I’m not alone in this. When my students feel stuck, disconnected, overwhelmed, or just need to get away, I remind them that it’s okay to slow down, take a breather and indulge in activities that bring them joy and replenish their spirits.
With that said, we must remember that self-care isn’t selfish – it’s essential! So if you need a reset but still don’t know where to start, look no further: find a retreat where you can practice yoga, explore meditation and mindfulness, nourish your body with healthy cuisine, and learn how to better care for yourself.
A retreat is an intentional holiday to find clarity and rediscover who we are amidst the chaos. Whether craving yoga classes, simply looking for extra relaxation, or walking in nature, it will give you a break from your everyday stresses. You’ll also have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with like-minded people who are on a similar journey.
When joining a retreat, having the right mindset to make the most of this experience is essential. Remember that this is not just about physical exercise or relaxation; it’s also about learning and developing a stronger connection with yourself. Whether you go for a weekend or an entire week, being committed to the practice and staying present in each moment is vital.
Above all, try not to stress too much! I’ll be there to guide you to find and reignite your inner light.
